Community Support

HERRING LAW GROUP is dedicated to the communities it serves throughout “the 805.” As part of our mission, we support a number of Santa Barbara and other non-profits, including the following:

Casa Serena – Casa Serena is HLG’s “signature” non-profit. Based in Santa Barbara, its mission is to “help women and their families recover from addiction and underlying mental health conditions by providing evidence-based treatment services while building community, instilling self-determination, and empowering them with educational opportunities and financial literacy.” Its professional staff includes Marriage and Family Therapists, Certified Addiction Treatment Counselors and master’s level clinicians specializing in women’s treatment. Casa Serena offers two properties within walking distance, covering all levels of care from detox stabilization, residential treatment, and outpatient services. The organization is Santa Barbara’s only treatment facility where mothers recovering from addiction can reunite and live with their children. See

Santa Barbara Women Lawyers — Formed in 1998, SBWL is a nonprofit organization that promotes the diverse interests of women lawyers in Santa Barbara. Through its continuing legal education, evaluation of applicants for judicial office, mentoring and other programs, SBWL strives to positively impact new attorneys, law students, and prospective legal scholars while examining the problems of and proposing solutions to the internal and external factors that inhibit women in their quest for social and professional equality. SBWL serves the entire community, coordinating and maintaining liaisons with other professional and women’s organizations. See

Santa Barbara Club Preservation Foundation – This Foundation’s purposes include educating and informing the public by acquiring, restoring, preserving, and maintaining historically and/or architecturally significant buildings and structures in and around Santa Barbara County. This very much includes the historic clubhouse and surrounding structures of the Santa Barbara Club, of which Greg is a member. See

AAML Foundation – This is the charitable organization advancing one of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ most important goals: to protect children and families.  Greg was named a Fellow of the AAML in 2006 and has served as the President of its Southern California Chapter. Boy Scouts of America – In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It is fun and hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life. At age 13, Greg was one of the youngest ever to achieve the Eagle Scout rank. His son is now proudly a Scout, too. See

Trout Unlimited – TU brings people who care about cold water fisheries together to protect, reconnect and restore the places they love to fish. Greg is an avid fly fisher, and so supporting TU is natural. See

California Trout –  CT’s goal is to restore vibrance and abundance to California’s freshwater ecosystems, and to keep them that way for years to come. Supporting this goes hand-in-hand with our support of TU. See

Ojai Valley Land Conservancy – The OVLC Land Committee and staff work tirelessly to identify, acquire, maintain and improve wildlands benefitting the Ojai community. As Greg is also an avid mountain biker, supporting OVLC is also natural! See

It offers classes, playgroups, breastfeeding support, therapy and counseling, as well as new baby home visits. See

Monica Ros School — Monica Ros has been providing a magical beginning to Ojai children’s education for 75 years. Its mission is to expand a child’s natural passion for learning in a setting that celebrates Ojai’s natural beauty. All three of Greg’s children attended Monica Ros, and Greg previously served on its Board of Trustees. See

Oak Grove School – The mission of Oak Grove School is to assist students in developing those qualities of mind, heart, and body that will enable them to function with excellence, care, and responsibility in the modern world. All three of Greg’s children also attended OGS. See
