Casa Serena – Casa Serena is HLG’s “signature” non-profit. Based in Santa Barbara, its mission is to “help women and their families recover from addiction and underlying mental health conditions by providing evidence-based treatment services while building community, instilling self-determination, and empowering them with educational opportunities and financial literacy.” Its professional staff includes Marriage and Family Therapists, Certified Addiction Treatment Counselors and master’s level clinicians specializing in women’s treatment. Casa Serena offers two properties within walking distance, covering all levels of care from detox stabilization, residential treatment, and outpatient services. The organization is Santa Barbara’s only treatment facility where mothers recovering from addiction can reunite and live with their children. See casaserena.org
Santa Barbara Women Lawyers — Formed in 1998, SBWL is a nonprofit organization that promotes the diverse interests of women lawyers in Santa Barbara. Through its continuing legal education, evaluation of applicants for judicial office, mentoring and other programs, SBWL strives to positively impact new attorneys, law students, and prospective legal scholars while examining the problems of and proposing solutions to the internal and external factors that inhibit women in their quest for social and professional equality.
